Damascus, Syria — July 26, 2026

Intercontinental Aviation Academy (FlyIAA) has officially opened its office in Damascus, marking a significant milestone in the academy's regional expansion and reaffirming its long-term commitment to the development of Syria's aviation sector.

A New Office, a New Chapter for Syrian Aviation

The new office will serve as FlyIAA's official presence in Syria, providing aspiring pilots with local access to admissions, student support, career guidance, and aviation education services.

Building Syria's First Full Aviation Academy

FlyIAA is pleased to announce that it has officially commenced the licensing process to establish a comprehensive aviation academy in Syria, offering both ground school and practical flight training in accordance with international aviation standards.

A Path Into Pilot Training, Starting Now

Until the academy is fully licensed and operational, Syrian students can begin their aviation journey through FlyIAA's internationally accredited training network, enrolling locally before completing their flight training at FlyIAA campuses across Europe and the Middle East. This provides immediate access to internationally recognized pilot training while laying the foundation for future training opportunities within Syria.

Marking the Occasion: FlyIAA's Inaugural Open Day

The announcement was made during FlyIAA's inaugural Open Day at the Golden Mazzeh Hotel in Damascus, attended by senior government officials, representatives of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, aviation industry leaders, FlyIAA Board members, strategic partners, media representatives, and aspiring pilots.

Captain Wissam Al Mehyou, Global Chairman of Intercontinental Aviation Academy, described the opening as an important step toward rebuilding and strengthening Syria's aviation industry:

"Opening our office in Damascus is more than an expansion; it is a commitment to investing in Syria's future. We believe the country has exceptional aviation talent, and our goal is to create opportunities that allow aspiring pilots to receive world-class training while contributing to the long-term growth of Syrian civil aviation. Beginning the licensing process for a full ground and flight training academy reflects our confidence in Syria's future and our dedication to building lasting aviation infrastructure."

The strong attendance at the launch demonstrated broad support from government institutions, aviation authorities, and industry stakeholders for expanding aviation education and creating new pathways for future generations of Syrian aviation professionals.

What the Academy Will Offer

The planned academy will deliver internationally aligned theoretical and practical flight training, enabling students to complete their aviation education within Syria while benefiting from FlyIAA's global expertise, standardized training systems, and international partnerships.

Looking Ahead

With operations and partnerships spanning Europe and the Middle East, FlyIAA continues to expand its global network while maintaining the highest standards of aviation training. The opening of its Damascus office and the initiation of the academy licensing process represent the beginning of a long-term investment in Syria, one that aims to develop local talent, strengthen the country's aviation ecosystem, and connect Syrian pilots with opportunities across the global aviation industry.
